Reframe to Frame
I create a formal and cultural entanglement between Eastern and Western culture specifically American design. Influenced by other Iranian designers like Reza Abedini, I used a traditional Iranian pattern made from wood and overlaying on a Western use of Latin lettering on paper. The two layers move across a spectrum of wholeness to deconstructions for the Iranian pattern and legibility of materiality of other language. By occupying the same usual frame, these shifting frameworks cooperate with, contribute to, and resist  one another. On the other hand, the use of black and white color mimics the paradoxes and tensions between these two cultures.
